Find the right wall
Look at where your eye naturally lands when you enter the room. The wall behind a dining table, a living-room feature or a defined entry area can be a good starting point. Consider furniture placement before choosing the width and height of the stone.
A full wall creates a continuous backdrop. A smaller framed area can work when you want to retain more painted surface or keep the composition focused. Neither approach is automatically better; the proportions of your room should lead the decision.
Balance texture, color and light
Compare samples alongside the flooring and cabinetry. Soft cream tones, layered gray stone and warmer earth colors each create a different relationship with existing finishes. Joint width and mortar color can change the appearance as much as the stone itself.
View the sample in daylight and with the room’s evening lighting. Strong side lighting emphasizes shadows on a textured wall; softer light gives a quieter effect. Decide on any new lighting before installation so wiring and fixtures can be coordinated.
